Since it presented its first show in 2013, Ethical Brew has become a favorite local venue for fans of thoughtful, mellow singer/songwriters like Mr. Wictor, a regular at major folk festivals with a national following. Concerts take place at the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County, a chapter of the American Ethical Union, a humanist organization that emphasizes "deed before creed."

Beth Stein and her husband, Perry, both of Northvale, run the program, pay the performers, and all of the profits above that are split between the society and an organization or cause that is important to the talents that take the stage.
